Frequently asked questions

Does it handle RAW files (NEF, CR2, ARW, DNG…)?

Yes — any format. Renaming never modifies file content, only the name. Your RAW, JPEG, video and XMP sidecars are processed identically. Sidecar files (.xmp) keep the same base name as their associated RAW if selected together.

Are my photos really private?

100% yes. Everything happens in your browser via modern Web APIs (File System Access, fflate). No file ever leaves your Mac. You can disconnect from the internet after loading — the app keeps working. Ideal for NDA shoots or sensitive client portraits.

How much faster is this than Lightroom or Photo Mechanic?

For RENAMING alone, comparable to Photo Mechanic but without the desktop license. For simple workflows (2000-photo wedding, standardized conventions), ~30 seconds vs ~3 minutes in Lightroom (which has to open, import, export).

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome and Edge 86+ for optimal streaming ZIP (direct disk writes, no RAM limit). Firefox and Safari also work with a JSZip fallback — capped at ~1.5 GB per operation. Recommended: Chrome on Mac/PC.

How many files can I process at once?

Free: 50 files max per operation. Pro: unlimited. We've tested 5,000 RAW files (110 GB total) on Chrome without issues — as long as you have disk space for the final ZIP.

Why pay $9/month for a tool that runs locally?

The subscription funds ongoing development, new presets, email support, and hosting. No ads, no data resale. If you shoot 2 weddings a month, that's $4.50 per session — to save 2 hours.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, 14-day refund for EU customers (legal requirement). Beyond that, just email us — we refund without question if you're not happy.

How is this different from Bulk Rename Utility, Photo Mechanic, or Lightroom?

BRU: Windows-only, 90s UI. Photo Mechanic: excellent but $150 + paid by version. Lightroom: overkill just to rename. Namyfixer: $9/month, works everywhere, photo presets built-in, zero install.

Does the ZIP preserve folder structure?

Yes. Drop a folder (RAW/, JPEG/, Selects/) and the hierarchy is preserved. Perfect for delivering clean structures to clients.
